One of the benefits of covid lockdowns was while I was out walking my dog I could take photos of the empty playgrounds around Geelong without looking like a creep!

This is an ongoing list of Geelong parks and playgrounds, I will add more playgrounds as I visit them.

Bunjil’s Nest Playground – Mt Duneed

20 Minutes drive southish from the Centre of Geelong this playground is only a short drive from Grovedale, Mt Duneed and Armstrong Creek. It is also next to a cafe because coffee = life.

As well as your regular playground features like slides, Bunjils Nest is one of the best Geelong Playgrounds as it has lots of unique play equipment including a flying fox, giant ropes, mini climbing wall and more. While there are still options for small kids, this playground has more options for older children who can participate in using its unique play equipment.

However, smaller children love the nearby Warralily Boulevard Playground which has water features and noise play features at ground height.

Warralily Boulevard Playground – Armstrong Creek

A good playground for smaller kids there is water play and things to make noise on down at ground height as well as higher equipment to play on. There is also a nearby grassy area to kick a round a ball and little creek if you feel like a bit of nature play (keeping watch for snakes of course!).

Glenlee Regional Park

Glenlee Regional Park boasts a brand new playground (built late 2022) just off the Barwon heads road between Geelong and Armstrong Creek.

This park has a lot of play options from balance objects just above ground level to very high towers to climb. The feedback from my friends with kids is this playground does require a closer level of supervision due to the spread out nature of the play equipement.

Barwon Valley Fun Park

This park has changed a lot over the years and no longer has the big wooden play structures. Unfortunately it seems to have a lot of equipment under maintenance but when working it has several different play areas spread out in a riverside park.

Its a good option to meet a group of friends and bring snacks, a picnic or have a BBQ lunch still in view amd close to the play area. There are also toilets around 50m from the park.
